Ditty’s Hat

I knit a hat for Ditty last winter, after she scorned the mobius I knit for her.  I’m not sure why I knit again for her either after a scorned project, but I suppose I have to until she can knit for herself.  Here are the pics.

The hat.  This pattern is the Amanda Hat by Gina House of Sleepy Eyes Knits.  I saw the pattern on Ravelry (it’s a free download!) and knew that this would be something Ditty would like.  I loved that it is knit in the round so that a busy mom doesn’t have to sew a seam, just weave in the ends and you’re done.  Yes, I do get a little jog up the back, but it looks better than my seams do at the moment.

And a photo of the scorned mobius as a work in progress.  Now you can see what I mean about my seams.

Quotes:

"Private prayer is like straw scattered here and there: If you set it on fire, it makes a lot of little flames. But gather these straws into a bundle and light them, and you get a mighty fire, rising like a column into the sky; public prayer is like that."

St. Jean Marie Baptiste Vianney
Cure d'Ars
on liturgical prayer

I finally understand

"Among those around you, apostolic soul, you are the stone fallen into the lake. With your word and your example, you produce a first circle, and it another, and another, and another, wider each time. Now do you understand the greatness of your mission?" St. Josemarie Escriva: The Way
