Homemade Oatmeal for One

This is a recipe I created to help me feel full and lose some excess weight.  It is very easy and could be frozen after cooking to be used later.

1/2 cup old fashioned oats

1/2 cup 1% milk or vanilla soymilk

1/2 cup water

2 Tablespoons dried fruit (raisins, sweetened dried cranberries or your favorite)

2 teaspoons sugar

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Mix all together and microwave on High (1100 watt oven) for 2 minutes.  Stir and microwave for one minute more-but watch carefully as it likes to boil over at this point, so stop and stir down as needed.  Enjoy.

I calculated approximately 330 calories per serving using raisins/craisins and 1% milk.

Quotes:

"Private prayer is like straw scattered here and there: If you set it on fire, it makes a lot of little flames. But gather these straws into a bundle and light them, and you get a mighty fire, rising like a column into the sky; public prayer is like that."

St. Jean Marie Baptiste Vianney
Cure d'Ars
on liturgical prayer

I finally understand

"Among those around you, apostolic soul, you are the stone fallen into the lake. With your word and your example, you produce a first circle, and it another, and another, and another, wider each time. Now do you understand the greatness of your mission?" St. Josemarie Escriva: The Way
