Royal Tea & Twinkies

Oh, the kids are having a blast with Catholic Schools Week.  So far, they have dressed up as everyday heroes and were served lunch by the local fire dept. and the condiment table was staffed by our city administrator and a city council member.  Thankfully, the fire dept didn’t receive an emergency call until after the last lunch group was served.  Then that afternoon, they had popcorn, juice and a movie.  Since the Catholic Schools Week theme is service, they also made Thank You posters for the hospital, fire station, food shelf, city hall and police station.

Last night, I got a call from our school cook.  She had an injury that was going to require bed rest for a couple of days.  I helped with lunch today and got to see the kids dressed up as royalty.  The K-2nd grade played Royal Bingo, while the older kids participated in a Royal Spelling Bee.  Since we were a bit short on help for the afternoon snack, I stayed and helped serve Royal Tea & Twinkies.  The kids played Royal Trivia and each received a sparkly prize.

Hope you’re enjoying your week as much as I am enjoying mine.  I’ll be back in the kitchen tomorrow as we host the preschoolers for lunch.

I finally understand

"Among those around you, apostolic soul, you are the stone fallen into the lake. With your word and your example, you produce a first circle, and it another, and another, and another, wider each time. Now do you understand the greatness of your mission?" St. Josemarie Escriva: The Way
