The three bears go camping

Oops!  Better make that four bears go camping or BooBoo will think I forgot him.

We had great weather for camping last weekend.  It was supposed to rain and it didn’t.  The temp was only supposed to get into the low 70’s and it got to about the upper mid-70’s and the temp at night was only in the low to mid 50’s.  Not too hot, not too cold but just right.  Baby bear couldn’t have asked for better himself.  Unfortunately, some of the usual crew were not able to attend this year.  We missed them and did our best to enjoy the weekend anyway.  May they be back with us again next year.  The crew isn’t complete without them.  After all, 16 people in a cabin eating supper feels a bit empty, just way too spacious.  lol

We got to the cabin around 7:30ish and were able to set up our tent in daylight.  The first good portent of the weekend.  Afterwards, we all sat around the fire, drinking and talking.  We got to meet our friend’s little boy and the little boy’s mom.  We’re a rather large and outspoken group so I think we may have overwhelmed them a bit.  Hopefully, they’ll get used to us in time.  The little guy is seven and a half months old so he was the center of attention for most of the evening, until his bedtime.

The next day, we all dilly-dallied around.  Nobody was overly motivated to do anything (not a criticism, just a comment as I wasn’t overly motivated to do anything myself).  A couple of the guys went fishing or as one put it, catching.  We had enough fish & fries to feed the crew lunch.  Which is some pretty solid catching.  Then we all watched the guys target shooting with their homemade potato guns (or spud shooters as we call them).  Good old Aqua Net was actually bested by Suave for distance.  DH of course had his spud gun out and got the closest shot to the target, one of our friends in the paddleboat.  Yes, I do think helmets and pads would be a good thing for the folks in the boat, and maybe a catcher’s mitt 🙂  Here are some pictures . . .

DH and Alf went waterskiing after the potato shoot.  DH ended up pulling a hamstring.  He finally showed me the bruise last night (the doctor mom thing again).  I said that there’s no way that bruise came from pulling a muscle and he must have gotten hit by the ski or it was the way he landed on the water.  The bruise ran from top of the inner thigh to the back of the knee.  Looked red, at least no blue or purple which would have indicated a deeper bruise.  One would think I’d get to worry more about the kids than him.  nope.

BooBoo and Cooter

BooBoo and Cooter

I’m saying, this boy needs his own dog and soon!  The happy grin says it all.  The boy was in hog heaven that Cooter let him hold and pet him.  He even helped “walk” Cooter the next morning.  Just the short, see if they need to go bathroom walk.  Even Ditty liked to spend time with the dogs.  Although getting a good picture of it was hard.
Yum, baby food face.

Alf’s little guy on the other hand wasn’t too impressed with his face wash.  He cried a little after this shot.  Of course, baby’s don’t generally like to get their face washed the normal way either.
Sunday brought with it the usual pack up, clean up and go.  I made DH stop a couple of times on the way home.  Once to have a picnic lunch

and the second time just to walk around a bit and stretch his leg.  Didn’t want him sore and stiff from the drive home.  He didn’t argue (Surprise!).
All in all though, a great weekend of camping.

I finally understand
